In schools across America, every year STAR testing is held. Here at St.Paul students take STAR Testing twice a year, once in the Fall and again in the Spring.
STAR testing or Standard Test for the Assessment Reading, consists of two tests: a reading test that takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and a math test that takes 15-20 minutes to complete.
Created by the company Renaissance Learning the purpose of these tests is to accurately provide information to teachers as to where their students' knowledge is on the subjects of English Comprehension and Mathematics.
For the teachers here at St.Paul the Fall STAR test is perhaps the more important one. The test provides information for teachers on how to adjust their course for their students that year.
Usually all four grades do STAR testing, however, this year is quite special when it comes to STAR testing. This will be the last time that the senior class does not take STAR testing. Beginning next year all across the nation, all grades (K-12) will take part in STAR testing.
